This article is the product of a group project for Women's Studies 101 on the pressures placed on women based on societal standards. It is the culmination of individual research done on these pressures on a broader scale, in an effort to bring this research to our own community and see where Simon's Rock fits into the epidemic.
Appealing to the movie-going public, Hollywood has decided to turn out another pile of Yuletide sewage. This particular piece of junk stars the dynamic duo of Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon. Vaughan hasn't been in a decent lead role since 1998's crime thriller Clay Pigeons and Witherspoon—whose roles have always been the blonde"—hasn't been in anything that stands out, making the duo one would expect from such a pair—namely like a stocking full of coal.
In a recent Newsweek article, science writer Sharon Begley provides ample statistics in an effort to refute the claim that men are naturally more mathematically gifted than women. She points out how the disparity between men's and women's measurable mathematical prowess varies drastically from country to country, implying that some cultural influence must be causing, or at least exacerbating, this disparity.
Apparently, we are living in an increasingly sexless world. According to the Dalai Lama, the Federal Communications Commission and YouTube, sex should play a much smaller role in our lives than it does now. That means coitus, copulation, fornication, love-making, relations or whatever else you want to call it when two persons get under the covers without clothes on might not be as in-your-face as it has been.
