After the Dance Concert let out Thursday night, senior Lisa Myers ran down the boardwalk of the Daniel Art Center to the Kendrick lawn with a lit torch.
The torch started the Mayfest bonfire. Students toasted s'mores over the fire, as seniors tossed in copies of their theses to be burned in effigy.
The next night Mayfest continued with the performance of Curse, a German rapper and alum of Simon's Rock. His opening act, junior Brian Carmody, was the winner of last weekend's stand up comedy night.
In the very early hours of Saturday, there was a midnight showing of Rocky Horror Picture Show, complete with a live cast acting it out and callouts. "Rocky Horror was the best part. I got to see people in their underwear," said Jessica Mah, a first-year.
On Saturday, there were inflatables to play on, fried dough to eat and music to listen to.
"Fried dough was my favorite part," said first-year Rayshelle Johnson. "I just liked hanging out on the lawn with friends and playing sports," said first-year Vineeta Kapahi.
Frankie and His Fingers returned for another performance, there was an open mic, and the Gamelan ensemble made of Bard and Simon's Rock students playing traditional Balinese instruments performed.
On Saturday night, the dining hall was cleared out for prom. The theme this year was Old Hollywood. "It took four hours to set up," said prom organizer Emily Davila. "But it went really well."
Sunday was full of games. The duck race, basketball, volleyball, badminton and dodgeball were among some of Sunday's activities. Jer Coons, a folk singer, also performed on Sunday.
"I didn't get to go," said first-year Anna Brown. "I had to work all weekend. It sucks it was the weekend before classes end."
Some students felt this Mayfest was better this year than last year. Mayfest organizer Megan Nye said "Security told me it was the best Mayfest we've ever had."
Senior Nate Anderson added, "It was better than last year."
Mayfest wrapped up with an awards ceremony, where Hill House was awarded The Spirit of Simon's Rock award.
